Yeah, you can do that, theres a plank over the third rail. Its not safe tough. Ive fallen on those from a meter or two up a few times out bombing
pissed, which is kind of scary in retrospect. You can also pick up stuff thats fallen under it, a friend once told me to just pick up a dropped
(metal)can from underneith it, but Im not that bold.. I do clearly remember finding & picking up a plastic marker from underneith it once as a kid
being young & careless. But yeah its cool to walk around on the plank & even spray on the actual third rail and people do tag it up. Around here
anyway.
I almost forgot, you dont have the third rail. Not in Sydney anyway, what about the rest of AU? I must say I never really liked the big tangaras etc
the way I like subways.

Thanks for the information Cazals that was quite a good read.
I dont think any part of Australia has the 3rd rail system as our railways are predominatly above ground. Although I am sure someone else can clarify
this. I dont mind Tango's but Ridgeys are pretty cool. Although I am sure o/s cars are much doper than the ones here.

Subways are so slick.. pretty quiet small cars, stop every other minute & more. Theres just a nice atmosphere around them, and they do run overground.
Id say most of the tracks are overground even.
Wheres yours are big, noisy and travel real far, even between stations.
Its like comparing a car and a truck to me.. Also, around here weve got both, I have the big Sydney type trains running to my 'burb and theyre
actually starting to grow on me after 10 years or so. Those pretty much run strictly overground, except for one station I believe. And those run very
far. All trains to & from town utilise the same tracks & hanging powerlines as those. I think I actually prefer the Sydney cars to those, so I wouldnt
say yours are all bad, just too hot to run in Sydney summers!
Ive always been into the subways really.

Back in that era didn't they shut the whole system down for the weekends which was when most writing was done?

The newer siemens connex trains in Melbourne are dope. Flat stanless steel surface. I like the single carriage as well not as cramped as the double
deckers in sydney.

Sure, for riding purposes. But the double deckers have an enormous advantage in terms of privacy in the mid levels when writers are getting loose...

Thanks for that, yeah the mid levels are nicely out of sight.
Weve recently gotten the odd doublecker as well, and theres supposed to be more coming but those are intercity trains.
