Eli tragically passed away today..for those that don't know of him Eli was a writer, mc and dj in the sydney scene but most importantly he was a straight up good bloke who will be terribly missed :(

Man killed as car careers onto pavement

June 07, 2008 04:09pm
Article from: AAP

* Woman driver to face murder charge, say police
* 21-year-old hit by car, killed after argument
* Police say car "actually made a line" towards people

POLICE say a woman driver will be charged with murder after a car allegedly ploughed into a group of young people in Sydney's north early today, killing one man.

Eli Westlake, 21, of Turramurra, was killed in the incident in Lithgow Street, St Leonards, about 4.20am (AEST).

Detective Inspector Peter Yeomans said a group of up to six young people, five males and a female, got into an altercation with the driver of a car.

He said chips or a chip packet were thrown at the car.

The driver allegedly got out of the vehicle and an argument ensued between the group and the driver, who then got back into the car.

"The vehicle actually went forward and then reversed and then actually made a line towards this group of people," Inspector Yeomans said.

"They tried to get out of the way with a number of wheelie bins that were there and this vehicle has returned and actually veered towards the persons concerned."

Inspector Yeomans said alcohol had played a part in the incident which he described as "extremely tragic".

"His (Mr Westlake's) family is obviously devastated," he said.

Another person received minor injuries in the crash and was taken to hospital, treated and released.

Police searched the area after the passenger in the car ran off. They arrested a 27-year-old man at a house in Artarmon and were questioning him this afternoon.

A 37-year-old Pymble woman was arrested and was expected to be charged with murder later today.

rival edit: changed the last name to westlake in title

I didn't know Eli well but he was one of those dudes who was at all the gigs, always showing love and support and ready for a chat. This scene needs a lot more dudes like him in it.

Rest In Peace Bro.

You've got to be shitting me.
I saw this on the news last night, but to then find out that a person you know was killed as a result is just disturbingly surreal.

Eli used to come up to Droppin Science many many times to watch our shenanigans.
He was a nice guy indeed. Very polite, but with an inner rowdy edge...

Shit I still even have some of his European CDs he lent me.

Here's a pic I took with him in it at Luna Park in 2005.

Far right.

Only met him twice but knew he had music in his blood and was looking forward to hearing what he produced. Thoughts to his parents and all who knew him in the scene in this unnecessary loss. RIP Eli ONE.

This came as a shock to hear this tragic news. Eli was a real warm nice guy who I first met thru a work experience placement he did at Next Level Records. He was humble, a hard worker and actively took part in and supported many community based hip hop projects. He was truly passionate about all aspects of hip hop culture and made friends with anyone in the scene that he met.

RIP
